Erasmus+ Mobility for Teaching at:

Academy Of Fine Arts And Design In Ljubljana

As part of the Erasmus program from the 14th to the 19th of April, I was a guest at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. I had the opportunity to visit the Graphic Department and get insight into their courses and teaching methods. Art associate Admir Ganić introduced me to the work of printmaking workshops and student’s works. My host at ALUO was Prof. Zora Stančič who teaches printmaking with an extended field approach. In her graphic works, she explores the relationship between classical graphic techniques and modern digital graphics. The lectures I gave on the topic of contemporary printmaking and digital procedures were very well attended. I also presented my artistic portfolio with several projects based on digital collages to illustrate basic artistic ideas and the poetical discourse of digital printmaking. The conversation and discussion with the students was very dynamic and interesting.

At ALUO I also met associate Mojca Zlokarnik, president of the Ljubljana Fine Artists Society and founder of project Avanti grafika. We discussed the possibilities of cooperation and agreed that in the future, cooperation between Serbian and Slovenian printmaking artists should be strengthened. Prof. Stančič suggested that as a start of cooperation, we could organize a project with 10 students from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana and the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. Mojca Zlokarnik also agreed to support the project and we will continue to work on the development of that idea.

During my stay in Ljubljana, I attended the opening of the exhibition Unnoticed by the Roadside Graphic Technique of Marjan Pogačnik at the invitation of one of the authors of the exhibition Admir Ganić at the National Gallery of Slovenia. I also visited the exhibitions For your pleasure at the Museum of Modern Art and at the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova How to Go On? – a selection of works from Moderna Galerija’s Arteast 2000+ and national collections plus special projects. I had the pleasure of seeing the exhibition at Cankarjev Dom’s Gallery, which primarily featured Maria Lassnig’s drawings, as well as a selection of paintings and several short animated films. In the Cukrarna gallery, I visited the group exhibition Extended Vision which is thematically linked to the phenomenon of perception, while in another part of the space, the exhibition Standing Waves offers a comprehensive insight into the artistic practice of Beirut-born, Paris-based sound artist and electroacoustic composer Tarek Atoui.

The visit to The International Center of Graphic Arts and the meeting with the curator Božidar Zrinski were of exceptional importance. This institution is a reference place in the world of contemporary printmaking and the experience of the MGLC team is of great benefit for professional development.

My visit to Ljubljana was important for my professional development and the improvement of cooperation between the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade and the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. I was able to gain insight into the pedagogical process in the field of contemporary art and get an impression of the Slovenian art scene. I believe that this experience will contribute to the development of my professional skills and the initiation of new projects.
