Erasmus+ Mobility for Teaching at
National Academy of Art in Sofia, Bulgaria
Dr of arts Marko Luković, Associate Professor, from Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, (Department of Industrial design) held a five-day design workshop at the National Academy of Art, Sofia, Bulgaria (Национална художествена академия – НХА). Academic visit was held in the framework of the Erasmus +, teaching staff mobility exchange program in time period 24-28th of April 2023. Practical workshop was held for students of Department of Industrial Design. During this period, students of all years of bachelor studies, on the basis of the acquired topic and professional guidelines, worked on an academic task with the theme “Sustainable Mobility of the Future- Transportation design for urban areas”.
Prof. Marko Luković introduced students to the task of a systematic method of solving structural problems in the automotive industry based on more than 20 years of his practical experiences gained in working on projects for different manufacturers of cars and other industrial products all over the World. Also, Prof. Marko Luković is the winner of 25 of the most prestigious international and Serbian design awards for his professional work in the field of vehicle and industrial product design. In the constant personal communication and daily corrections by Prof. dr Marko Luković in correlation with colleague Prof. dr Rangel Čipev, from NHA Department of Industrial design, students have produced very unusual, creative and original solutions. The goal was achieved. In consultation with Professor Marko Luković, the students worked individually on their designs. They presented their ideas through hand-drawn sketches, drawings colored in 2D software, while the most ambitious managed to do in a very short time period, both generated computer three-dimensional (3D) models and photorealistic visualizations of their projects.
The final presentation of student’s sustainable vehicle design solutions was held on April 28th, 2023. In front of all members of Commission, students explained their solutions. During the presentation, prof. Marko Luković gave the students a number of useful tips and comments for a better understanding of problems in car (transportation) design.
In a direct conversation with students and colleagues from the Department of industrial Design (National Academy of Arts in Sofia), the workshop, held for them, was a completely new and with different approach to the design of a project in the field of vehicle design in relation to what they have done so far. This time, the emphasis was on solving primarily functional, ergonomic and anthropometric requirements in the process of designing a new vehicle.
Future steps in academic cooperation and activities between Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade and National Academy of Art in Sofia.
Professor Marko Luković also held presentations about the Department of Industrial design of the Faculty of Applied Arts, as well as the history, structure and organization of the University of Arts in Belgrade.
All colleagues professors and members of administrative staff of NHA- Sofia was extremely kind and welcoming in communication and meetings with Prof. Marko Luković. Professor Marko Lukovic also had contacts and personal meetings with other colleagues as well. As a sign of appreciation and as reciprocity, there is an official Invitation to colleague Prof. Dr Rangel Čipev, to visit Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade and Department of Industrial design, within the Erasmus +, teaching staff mobility – exchange program. Also exchange of exhibitions of students and professors design works, of both faculties can be possible in future time period in Sofia and Belgrade. Exchange of students within the Erasmus + mobility program for students, during one semester, is also possible.
