Erasmus+ Mobility for Teaching at:
Escola D’Art Pau Gargallo, Barcelona, Spain
My visit to the Escola d’Art and the Superior de Disseny Pau Gargallo de Badalona (Barcelona) began with my arrival at the institution on 2.5.2022. The warm and friendly welcome indicated good cooperation filled with a variety of content. Before the presentation, I was introduced to the staff who warmly accepted my arrival. I was shown the workshops of the faculty with all the resources available to the school, and then the exercises and programs of the school were explained to me. I was provided with all the necessary technical support so that I could give lectures and presentations.
My first lecture was about introducing students to the history, structure and teaching of the Faculty of Applied Arts at the University of Arts in Belgrade, as well as the activities are undertaken for student affirmation in the field of art. Interested students reacted in the form of questions related to practical teaching. The lecture was attended by about thirty students and several professors of the Art school Escola d’Art and Superior de Disseny Pau Gargallo de Badalona.
The second lecture followed the first after the short break and referred to the education system of the Photo Module at FPU. Details of studies were explained to them, explaining that these are subjects related to the module “Photography” which is studied through a four-year program, and not as one general subject. Examples of student works and exercises that are performed within the program of undergraduate studies were shown, so present students could see an opus of works and exercises performed on the module of photography.
The third lecture, although not planned, was about presenting my works and projects as a photography author. Through the presentation of photographs that I have created over the years, students and professors could get acquainted with my professional work and advertising photography. The emphasis of the presentation was on projects I have performed over the past two decades within my artistic work in the field of photography. Students reacted positively through questions and discussion and related to the photography styles and aesthetics of the presented photos. This lecture was attended by about 15 students and professor of typography Imma Olivella, who provided her teaching term in more than collegial gesture which is an indicator of her attitude towards me and the Faculty of Applied Arts.
All lectures were held in a good atmosphere. Since it is the end of the school year and the students are busy with the final projects, we could not organise the Workshop as I planned, but the students and teachers took the time to get acquainted with the way the Faculty of Applied Arts works.
I would especially like to emphasize the hospitality of Professors Manel Clemente and Charles Torne, who were in charge of International Cooperation and my stay at the Escola d’Art and Superior de Disseny Pau Gargallo de Badalona. From the very beginning of my participation in the Erasmus program, they showed interest and commitment. They introduced me to all the details of both the school and the cities of Badalona and Barcelona. They did everything to make my stay pleasant and were available to me throughout my stay.
My stay in Barcelona and Badalona is important, both for me in the terms of pedagogical work and for the Faculty of Applied Arts. By exchanging teaching staff and students, other cultures and different ways of teaching are introduced. Information is gathered through experience at other institutions, and in that way, it is possible to position our home institution and, most importantly, to adopt ideas that will improve our program. Through conversations with teachers of other institutions, we can find new ways of education that will be imported to the modern educational system, corresponding to the development of technology and aspirations in art today.
