My name is Milkica Marjanović and I spent one semester on Erasmus+ mobility in Belgrade. I am a student of the University of Banja Luka – Academy of Arts on course Music theory and Pedagogy. In June 2021, my professor told me about the Erasmus+ programme in Belgrade at the Faculty of Music and I was interested.  I collected the necessary documents, sent the application and then started my Erasmus story.

In July, I was notified that I had been granted an exchange. Although there was a certain fear of how I would manage in another state and another city, I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone to gain new experiences and gain new knowledge. The paperwork itself and the choice of subjects caused a lot of stress, primarily because I did not receive clear information from my academy in the very beginning. There are many interesting subjects at the Faculty of Music, but it was difficult to choose the ones I needed, especially because of the difference in curriculum. In the end, with the help of the wonderful Miss Ivana Mijanović, I managed to choose the appropriate subjects that will be recognized when I return to the academy in Banja Luka. Most of the classes were online, but I am still satisfied with the organization and the knowledge I gained. I am especially glad that I listened to classes with professors Ivana Hrpka, Srdjan Teparic and Nebojsa Maksimovic. I like their approach to art and pedagogy, which motivated me to continue pursuing this profession in life.

This was an experience that helped me gain a more objective insight into my progress so far. Thanks to the financial support of the Erasmus + program, I was able to cover all the costs of my stay in Belgrade. Also, this support enabled me to visit theatres often and hear operas like Tosca, Mrs Butterfly, but I also saw some of the greatest Serbian actors of today live.

During the exchange, I sang in the Choir “Braća Baruh” where I gained wonderful acquaintances and participated in their concert in December 2021.  Definitely an unforgettable experience that I will always remember.
